Default The Mother Lotus and Water Lily

    of Louis's babies.
Snapped these before it got too dark...notice the leaves sticking up out of the water on the lotus ....blooms not far behind. It is growing in the whiskey barrel as we couldn't keep it in its pot, so hubby let it loose !

First bud on the water lily....should open tommorrow or next depending on the sun...hubby has to keep leaves cut back so we can see the water and fish....very prolific grower !

What a difference a 1000 miles or so makes. I was feeling quite happy that my first water lily leaf just made it to the surface of the pond. It's about the size of a quarter. The lotus is still about 10 inches shy.

Gilda, yours are so much more further along! I should have planted ours earlier instead of keeping them in that bucket. I was really thinking I didn't have the lotus submerged down far enough, but seeing your pics, maybe I do.

Kev, how deep did you put yours?

I think mine are only about 10 inches below the water surface. It's just been so cold here again. The water just isn't warming the way it should.
