    Default A new Orchid game

Hi I have new game for fellow orchidoholics LOL. So heres how it works, I will post a few pictures, you have to point the ODD ONE OUT and give a reason for your choice. I think it will be a very nice discussion later when I reveal the answer. Just have a look, and answer according to your instinct, do not search a lot.

My guess is the middle one on the right hand collumn, because the others all look like they have anceps in them (i might be wrong) but the flower structure is very similar, with the droopy lower sepals. The one i chose however, is more full and has distinguished midribs in the petals.

Second row, picture on the right...to me there are several differences. The mottled color, different shape in a few places....for starters.

Interesting! My knee-jerk reaction was R2 (right column middle row) based on the differences in petal shape and lack of saturation in the lip.

Upon further inspection, however, the lip of L2 (left column middle row) seems to be subtly but significantly different from the others. The lip shape appears to be different. L2 is "frillier" and lacks the pinched 'waist' present in the others just beyond the point after the column ends. While I could easily be wrong, all the others except L2 appear to me to have Cattleya aclandiae in their ancestry. Also, the middle of L2's lip shows a strong recurve at the distal end. In the other 5, the middle distal end does not do so, instead the sides of the distal ends curve downwards. In addition, the lip color in the other 5 has a very marked saturation delineation at the lip 'waist'. L2's darker lip color reaches back deeper into the lip and up the edges where the lip sides fold over the column. So I would have to say that I believe L2 is the "odd man ... er orchid ... out".

Some very good answers and observations I must say. Hmm I think we should wait some more time for more answers and then I will reveal the answer and start the discussion.

I would agree. I'd definitely like to hear others' opinions/thoughts before the answer is "unveiled".
