    Wink phal alba x phal bellina breeding cross successful at last

    i have tried to cross twice unsuccessful when my phal bellina and phal alba flowered almost the same time. This time it was successful. photos below.

    Ummm, what exactly do you mean by Phal. alba? There no species within the genus Phalaenopsis called alba. There is a such thing as an alba variety, but many species have an alba variety, such as bellina, equestris, and violacea

    the vendor told me it was alba so i thought that was it. anyway the bloom was whitish with yellow tinge on the center. i wil get back and ask the vendor.

    Okay, that helps a little to know that it is an alba, but it is weird that they wouldn't give you the species name . . . Dobyou have a picture of the flower?

    After checking with the vendor - it's phal violacea alba.

    you're most welcome. Most vendors in our place don't put on plant tags, and buyers never question the name, but when it bloom everyone enjoy the colours.

    That is great that you know what your plant is. Just to let you know, that any cross between violacea and bellina, regardless of the order of the pod and pollen parent, is called Phal. Samera.
