    Default What's in my water???

I got a water quality report from my local water district but I can't make sense of it. Can some one who knows what they are looking at tell me what you think? Thanks

You have hard water. Do you got bildup in your shower and stuff? If so, the water is probably not that great for you to use on your orchids. I have hard water too, but I use it anyways. When I stop cutting corners and do things right, I'm sure my plants will reward me.

What does hard water mean? Is there anything I can do, (short of buying a purifying or R/O system), to make my water better? Boil it? Please don't laugh at me. LOL Thanks

Nope, not really. Bottled water is a bad idea too, it has sodium in it. Hard water means that you have deposits of a "hard" metal. Calcium and sodium are usually the main culprits. You can hitch up a system that catches rain water to use to water your plants. I've seen ones that attach to your drain gutter thingies that come down from the top of your house. Those look cool, but are of no use to me. Mom wouldn't use it when I was gone, and I am at the dorms all school year. You might be able to buy R/O water, but I'm not sure. And it is not expensive if you don't use it for anything else.

Would distilled water from the grocery store be o.k.? It sells for .30 per gallon and I could do that until I figure out something else. Thanks

I use distilled whenever possible, Travis.
