I acquired a single p-bulb from a Maxillaria tenuifolia today. The cutting has no roots, just one very long leaf and a single bloom. the bulb itself is maybe an inch and a half tall. so far I cut the "root" end and bloom off with shears (aseptically of course) and dipped the end in rooting hormone, followed by your standard sphag and bag. has anyone had experience with these and think this sounds apropriate for this type of orchid?
I have the same experience but not with a Maxillaria, its a Bulbo dearei. But the case is the same, single pb, one leaf and no roots. Sphag and bag was successful, the new growth appeared after couple of months and then the roots. The problem is the new growth is very small compare to the mother plant.
