Angel this Ginger is spectacular. I have a couple large Hedychium Ginger's in my greenhouse, but nothing quite this fine and exotic. Even the leaves are more handsome. AL

Lovely ginger Angel... I am so dying to try gingers however I lack the space that it requires... I hope my next house would have much bigger space for the plants...

HI Randy. Ginger, especially the torch ginger (I posted it in another thread), requires much space. But nothing beats ginger if you want an exotic look for your garden.

Thanks Zainal. It's not only beautiful, but also it requires no care at all. Nobody waters this plant, nor trims it. It takes care of itself. ;-)

Thanks Al. It has overtaken the bird of paradise which was growing beside it some years ago. Yes, the foliage look nice especially in large flower arrangements. There's also a pink variety.

Thanks Yew for the scientific name. Yes, beautiful it is. Nobody has tended this part of the garden for years except for some minimal weeding. We just let nature take its course. I guess nature is a better gardener and landscape artist that any of us.

Beautiful Ginger plant. I have a small ginger plant (a bit different than the one you post) that we grew from seed. Love the big dark leaves and pink flowers.

That is an amazingly beautiful and healthy Ginger !! Jordan the NZ government also classifies foreigners as weeds LOL, A friend of mine will be moving to Wellington from Germany and she has to go through a long process of customs, regulations and quarantine (for her belongings and cats) before she is finally accepted lol. I know they have to make sure pests and invasive species do not land there, but the most invasive species (humans) are already there with the other most dangerous species (from invasion point of view) rats, mice, cats, dogs pigs and goats. I don't see any point to it hehe.

Well, one can never get too careful these days Amey. It's just such a hassle sometimes.
