My deflasked Vanda's and Asco's

Hi Wileke I hope another one year from now you can show us the progress of this seedlings very interesting. I also got Acacalis cyanea already deflask them for more than 2 weeks so far doing quite well.

Thanks Amey. There is no water in the bowl. They are just in there because I plan to grow them in vases when they are bigger. Just like all my other Vandaceous orchids.
So for now I keep them in the bowls so I can soak them in there and give fertilizer.

Looking good. I guess on the picture they where just deflasked. Looks great.

So if I understand correctly you just removed them from the flasks, cleaned the agar and then let them sit without any medium? Misting and soaking them occasionally? Can you upload a bigger picture showing them in detail, I am really fascinated with your method of deflasking.

I did upload a picture from up close. As you can see They are in an empty bowl. I just mist them. Soaking I do twice a week with fertilizer. They already have a lot of nice new roots.
So I guess they like it. In the morning I have them in the sun for a short while. Not to long.
So far they do fine.

Hi Willeke,
I have just recieved 4 flask's of Vanda's LOL i can hear you laughing from here and saying i knew he would hahaha.
The flasks contain the following species and i wondered if i would be ok deflasking the same way you have done yours.
Vanda testacea
Vanda bensonii
Vanda denisoniana
Vanda tricolor

Hi Jason. I guess You're right about that. I knew you would. It's just so tempting to try it. I'm not really familiar with those species, but I guess the care is pretty much the same with all Vanda's. I did break the flask in a bowl of water. I must admit that was quite a tough job. Then I rinsed the agar off. After that I just put them in the bowl that you see on the picture. I mist them a few times a day. Twice a week I soak with fertilizer. The first time I let them stand in the shade. After a while I begin to adjust them to the sun, but very slowly. I don't know how you would like to grow them In vase or in basket. If you like to grow them in vase you can keep them in the bowl. I like those species. Sounds good.
