My oncidium spike is about 4 inches long and it's still hidden between the leaf. It seems to be making no attempt to try to show itself! Other spikes grew straight up, showing their tips when they're barely 1-2 inches long. Anything I can do? The spike is too shy...but I want to see it so 1) I can finally see my beautiful spike, yeah, the lovely green thing and 2) I can
stake it.

I usually leave them untethered as long as possible.
It's not lodged in there, is it? Curled around and pointing back toward the bottom?
If it is, you can *very carefully* use a q-tip to pull it out of the leaf axil. If it's growing straight, well, not much you can do without breaking it but let it grow until it starts poking out!
Like Louis said, if it's lodged, help it, but if it's happy where it is and not stuck, then leave it alone
Holy cow... John--you're back?!
Cool! Wondered where you'd gone off to!
LOL Moi? I've been traveling a lot lately, so haven't been around. But oh yes, I"m back :-) Glad I was missed!
Well good to see you here again. Glad you're back!
