Blc Keowee x Myrmecophila splendida

Well, the registered flower is now Myrmecatavola Frances Fox (with an e) (Polka Dot x tibicinis). Only three hybrids have been made and registered with Keowee, none with a Schomburgkia. Both Polka Dot and Keowee are F1 B. nodosa hybrids. The makeup of both flowers shown above is similar enough that, without any additional information, both are in the realm of possible results for both hybrids. There are no AOS awards to date for Frances Fox. Both are striking flowers.

Thanks for the info, Michael. The trouble with some Thai breeders is that they sometimes do not care to register their crosses or even incorrectly tag their plants.

Hi Yew,

I have had this plant for about 8 years, and made several divisions so I now have 3 pots actively growing.
I have entered the plant (in flower) in 2 AOS judged Shows and won 1st. and 3rd prizes for it under the Tag. Recchara. Francis Fox (Blc. Polka Dot x Shom. Tibicinis). I remember researching it and found that it was registered this way.
I am attaching a pic. of mine
What do you think is the difference, and why?

I must admit they do look strikingly similar. I see you have read and answered Michael's post. A few months ago Siaogu of Singapore posted a picture of an identical bloom he saw in a nursery in Singapore, with the name Myrmecatavola Frances Fox (as per Michael's post). Since the name on my tag is a bit dubious I think I'd better change it. Thanks Angela. And congrats for the prizes,. I'm glad the judges think it's beautiful.

No, the spike is about a foot long and and the plant about 10 inches tall.

Yes the spike is usually 10-12 inches on my plants and I have had 5 or more spikes with 4 -5 blooms at the same time.
This was one of the first Orchids given to me when I started to collect, and it has become the one I cherish the most.
