I am still waiting on my first blooms from this one. Any tips to try and get it to cooperate?

This fascinating species is stingy with flowers (does not bloom from every pseudobulb) and can be finicky to grow. If kept too dry, growths develop very slowly and if kept too wet, it rots instantly. Unfortunately it always blooms when I'm away.. Gggrrr

So., worth waiting for, Gotta love the Bulbos!
Always spectacular when in bloom but the fragrance(?) can be overwhelming.
Love this orchid. I have one and it bloomed, but I killed the other three buds. I let it get too dry. It is tricky.
cheers,
BD
Love the way this looks although i will be staying well away from getting one by the sounds of the culture
Thanks all.
Jonada, i'm afraid I don't have any tips. Its just doing OK under my conditions, increasing in size slowly. But usually blooms after heavy rain. So a slight drop in temperature might help (by slight I mean just a couple degrees C)
cattan, as far as I know medusae has no/very slight 'fragrance'.. Not stinky.
Wow, that is nice, very very nice!
No fragrance ? Well maybe the domesticated variety has somehow lost its scent. I have stood under a huge tree in the jungle whose branches have been completely covered with medusae blooms and have been literally bowled over by the scent. I must admit though I dislike any perfume and always avoid the perfume section of any department store. (Needles to say my wife doesn't use perfume),
The IOSPE agrees with me re the fragrance(?) of medusae. BTW I didn't say it stinks.
Totally agree with you on the 'fussy' issue Paphioboy! The only reason I tolerate it and pamper to its unpredictable needs is the wait for the bloom. Often find it goes into 'stop growth' mode and makes some/little progress when in a good mood but again the bloom is worth it. Have mine in an enclosed situ and the fragrance goes by barely unnoticed.
