Default another successful phal orchid cross

This phal. cornu cervi was crossed with phal. bellina 2 weeks ago. The flower has shrunk. This was my 3rd attempt after 2 failure. I have no other rare phal in my collection and the other ( phal violacea var.coerulea or blue form ) is not flowering so i have to settle for the bellina pollens. Now i'm thinking of getting the rarer type...my pockets !!

Nice effort. IMHO it is good to make pods just for fun, if you want to try natural symbiotic germination, without the hassle of labs and all that equipment. But if your aim is to sell seedlings, I doubt this is a good cross, assuming you used the bellina in your other thread. Your bellina has a very 'wild' shape, which although appealing on its own to some is not desirable in breeding. High quality bellina is now available and not too pricey.

Cool. So are you thinking of taking this one all the way, Robert, or was this more of a practice run to see if you could get it to work?

Thanks paphio and pavel for the info. I will try to get some to germinate for the fun of it.

I know nothing about cross breeding, but I must say that I like the color and form on this. Excellent post and responses here. AL

Best of luck! It is always fun to try and see what one can accomplish with these amazing plants. I think a unique shaped phal bellina crossed with phal. cornu cervi could be nice.

    cheers,
    BD
