Wow, very nice idea Eric, very clever!
Yes, it is similar.
It is not my idea. I was inspired by David Jubineau, a french man specialized in Bulbophyllum. David uses clay beads and sphagnum. David's Website
Thank you all.
I've come back to revisit the photos several times. I can see me using the stacks of saucers I have on a bunch of different genus. I have gesneriads that would love the shallowness of the saucer. I have a few begoinas that are epiphytic and of course ferns. I think all the small footed ones will look spectacular in them
Again, thanks for sharing!
Do you always give them Ferts (frequecy)? since the medium is Sphag which have no nutrional value and just retains water and moisture?
It's a good idea Cathy. Show us if you try.
Jeffrey, I give Ferts about 3 waterings on 4, less in winter and no Ferts if plant rests (Dendro, Cat...). Sometimes, I give Ferts by spray when I spray my saucers (plant and sphagnum) between 2 waterings during warm days.
Watering each week or each 10-15 days in winter, sometimes each 3 days in summer.
That's a great idea. You plants look extremely healthy and well grown. I will definately give that a try.
Good idea I cant use clay pot too heavy, nice shots.
first of all your plants looking healthy and awesome .. its a nice idea to mount on saucers ..
