I bought a dendrobium nobile about two and a half months ago. I noticed two growths sprouting out on the sides, but didntpay too much attention. I thought maybe they would start to sprout some buds at some point, but I noticed the other day that they have routes growing out of the sides. Its pretty exciting! My question is what action do I take now? How do I seperate them from the mother plant and how long should I wait to do it?

Hi! maybe you have to wait for the roots to grow more or longer, maybe around 2 to 3 inches, before removing it from the mother plant. You may refer to an Article or video here at the forum by Bruce (Brutal Dreamer) on how to do it.

Wait till the roots at atleast 2 inches long, and it should have sturdy cane and leaves befor eseparating it to the mother by pulling it twisting downward. If you like cut the cane atleast an inches from the keiki if the new plant is in the top of the cane.

Thanks for the advice. both keiki are growing at the base of the mothers cane and have really nice leaves sprouting. I wiil watch videos, and thanks again. Have great day, its really gloomy up here in boston.
