I finally got the construction part done. It is 10 X 20 X 8. The shade cloth is missing as well as the gravel for the floor. That is for next weekend. I filled it with most of my vandas and have promptly run out of room. We are going to add another six feet to house all the catt/laelias and dendrobes.
I have great kids that have never built anything....there are somethings I just have to ignore. Its hard because I'm so picky. Anyway, I can now work on getting misters and plastic (for the winter).
The yard is a mess...and that drives me NUTS!

Holy cow, look at all those vandas! I like your idea of hanging them on the wire roof because that way there are no limits to how you can configure the plants. Very cool. Congratulations.
Cathy, I have been waiting those pictures since you said you started the project. It feels like my own project is done.
BTW, I cannot believe you did not plan the shadehouse size based on the number of the orchids you have.
You are always a good buddy, Naoki...a smarta$$ but a good friend
I honestly thought they would all fit. I still can go out there and move it all around. I'm just tore up tired from directing things I can make all the vanda types fit because they are all coming out of baskets and on to hangers over the next few months. But even so the other plants are not going to have room. The little extra they are going to install will have a few benches for the potted plants.
My pleasure, Cathy.
That's how I grow since the space is the most important element for my little Vanda house.
During the visit at the local Home and Garden show, I pointed out the PERFECT greenhouse to Mike, which would fit right over Mike's Koi pond. Everthing comes with the kit with a very reasonable price. He looked at it and gave me THE LOOK. My last hope would be to build anther one by getting rid of some paphs & phrags.
I feel your pain Its hard not being able to have enough room.
If you plan to add six more feet for the orchids you mentioned - if possible add twice that much space. You will need it. Love the new setup and I am so happy for you. I know your orchids will love it too. Congratulations!!!
cheers,
BD
Looks very neat. Your vandas are going to love it. Love the wooden construction - aesthetically more appealing than the galvanised pipes I used for mine.
