This root of my Rhynchstylis gigantea started to take off in a angle of 45 degrees and hasn't stopped scince.
Where do you think it will end?

Mabuhay!
I don't care even if it stretches to 10 kms. as long as the orchid is alive. Congrats!
congrats it is thriving!
Rhynchstylis gigantea orchid roots can get very long and woody.
cheers,

Maybe in China? Mine also grows at all angles.
The root is taking over
But I'm glad the orchid looks healthy, this is all that matters!
Thats a sign of good humidity and culture, I have some R. retusas and giganteas with roots 8-10 feet long !
Make sure to sleep with your bedroom door closed!
I have all mine attached to trees in my garden here in Thailand.I began by wiring the plant to the tree with a piece of coconut shell to hold moisture. The roots do grow quite long. I have many suspended in hangers and the roots are over two meters long. I agree with Barbcrazed though...Keep your bedroom door closed...![]()
