The Dendrobium speciosum is grown outside 24/7, under our palm trees. It receives fairly heavy shade, but it spiked up 7 this year. Unfortunatly 4 of them were chewed off by Weta (HUGE prehistoric bugs) and Snails. I will have had it a year, come New Years. This particular beaut weighs in at around 25/30kgs, and is in a pot little over 40cmat its widest point. Potted in standard bark mix, and what you see here was split a little, my Horticulture teacher received a bit, and it flowered 65 on two spikes for him.
The Angreacum veitchii is grown indoors here, 24/7, although in the height of summer (late december-early march) i might move outside to a well lit position. It receives about 60% shade indoors, too much. I will have had it about 5 months come xmas. He is potted in larger chunks of bark, including the curly cambian bark which is usually omitted from standard mix. She weighs around 30kg, and is in a 10L pot, and is aprox 1-1.3m high
