Default Lovely Brassia Alliance orchid, but questioning tag

Granted these were taken hurriedly and are NOT 2 of my best efforts, I've attached 2 photos, showing the blooms and the plant .

I acquired this plant, nearly free, with 2 blooms (shown) left on a 15" inflorescence, which apparently had also had a few other branching inflorescences, all gone but leaving a trail of sorts. For once, the color in the photos shown is accurate and the blooms are 4 1/2" - 5" long and almost 4" across; the plant is a good 20" tall and probably had a taller inflorescence before the one that was left. I also tried to show that there are at least 3 good new growths showing. The tag on it said "Brs Tiger Tail", and since I seriously doubt this is a Brassia species, I've been trying to track down what kind of hybrid it might be. My best guess is a Brassidium, but the only "Tiger Tail" I've come across is a Cymbidium - NOT likely to have anything to do with this particular orchid. I can't find a registration for it, but it's difficult when one is guessing the genus - (no, I haven't had a chance to put the orchid program on my Mac yet).

Any ideas, all you wonderful, knowledgeable members?

    Maura:
I looked the name as a hybrid and as a cultivar but no luck. Looks like a Miltassia to me.

Hi Cathy - Isn't it pretty? Thank you.

I looked at the Ada keilianas and you're right that the blooms look similar; unfortunately, the plant itself (pseudobulbs and leave) doesn't look to me like the Ada leaves, but maybe that's just from the photos I've seen. I know they cross Adas with Brassias and other oncidium family genera - maybe this is something like a Brassada? I still go back to Brassidiums - they look the most like this shape of bloom and pseudos, etc. You know what you got me thinking, though - do you remember the narcissus-like Oncidium-alliance Taylor Barfield I posted about 2 months ago? The tag was for a similar looking flower, but all of them had red spots and we were all stumped. I've now seen some photos of Adas that resemble that plant and I'm wondering whether the "albino" form might be from at least an Ada somewhere in its background.

I e-mailed the nursery from Hawaii that sold the plant to the local place, but haven't heard back yet. Maybe I'll call them today. Isn't it a remarkably healthy plant? It amazes me how boxstores discard these orchids as soon as they go out of bloom.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help.

Thank you, Jose, for taking the time to confirm what I found out about it - which is to say, nothing, The petals are a little more spidery than the Miltassias I've seen, but then again, I haven't seen hundreds of different kinds, so it could be in there. If you look in the previous post to Cathy, you'll get some more info on my plans.

Again, you're so kind to spend the time on this and I appreciate it lots.

Be interested to hear the "final" verdict. My knee-jerk reaction would be that it is a Brassada (Brassia x Ada) hybrid.

I am starting to feel a little more sure of the Brassada connection, especially since the abbreviation for Brassada is Brsa. and my tag says "Brs" - and it looks like it was written hurriedly in pencil. There is a relatively common Brassada called Orange Delight, which is quite similar, but not enough the same for me to think that's what this is. The blooms on Orange Delight show brownish markings, but they are not arranged in stripes, as my Tiger Tail is. I have emailed the nursery in Hawaii about it, but no response yet, and I called today and got a recording, but, then, it's Saturday and I have no idea what time it is in Hawaii when it's 2:30 pm Eastern. I think this one is worth tracking down, though, so I'm not giving up yet.

Thanks, pavel, for the affirmation, and I'll keep you posted.
