My kids have given me orchids over the years. They normally do not come with a tag. But they touch my heart every time I see them...in bloom or not. My buddies, Pat (Zozzl) and Naoki have given me several. They mean a lot to me.

Betty, I totally agree with you about orchids that came as gifts from friends. My favorite orchids are not the ones I've spent money on... they are the ones that I have collected through trades or gifts from my friends. This cattleya is so beautiful. (And, one of the two cattleyas you gave to me last year is about to open!! Some really nice buds.

eldorado's also have a white ring around the solid orange in the throat, which makes it easy to identify, even on the flamea variety...
Nice, but I think it looks like a laelia hybrid. I've never seen any photo of a C. eldorado that looked like that.
According to Kew, eldorado is no longer the right name. C.wallisii is correct. The law of priority, I guess.
Pity, eldorado is a more romantic name , suitable for a lovely species.
