Actually, a few Gongoras did collide with my lens, but I edited them out if this particular series - simply because I don't like them and my head is too full of bizarre species as it is. In view of the fact that I have only been at this for 6 months or so (that includes orchidology and photography as well), I am thrilled when I can tell a paphiopedilum from a phalaenopsis! And yet I'm always looking for more to learn - it's a tragedy that nimble brains and photographic memories are wasted on the young. I was forced to rely on the id tags for many of these - of which some dated back to the middle of the last century - not RHS politically correct! I've been told that the very first photo is a Phaius.
