so im a horrible paph person...i admit it...no hiding the truth...about 5 years ago some friends gave me this guy in bloom as a christmas gift and all i could do was smile, say thank you and mask the pity i had this poor little bastard and it unfortunate fate...
spare me the scorn, after the flower faded...i ended up putting it in a useless clay planter (another gift), no drainage and in nothing but used pete pulled off the roots of a phal that was beyond help...on my bathroom window sill it went and there it stayed...
5 years, not a leaf fell, not a leaf grew...like some sort of plant stasis...
ive watered it with the sludge from my fishtank when i do water changes, just enough to keep it from drying out...
the countless wrongs i have done to this poor thing are my shame to bare, but still, after all these years, the winter chill brought about a resurrection! alas, it put out new growth, dropped some ancient leaves and put out one glorious bloom!
sorry for the drama, im just really happy about this and believe me, i showed utmost restraint in pic posting...i took hundreds from every angle...
does this mean im allowed to buy a one more?
Congrats! Some nice shots here, Shane.
thanks! im always so jealous of most peoples pics cuz i just use my phones camera to take my shots...granted, its a sony, so the camera does do a fantastic job for being a phone! but, honestly, now that ive reflowered one, does it mean im allowed to buy more? hehehehe! i still think im too neglectful of paphs to risk it ;-)
Considering I've killed every paph and phrag I've ever tried, I'm probably not the person to answer that.
how it managed to live in this pot is well beyond me, but its too late now, i aint changing a thing! guess it took 5 years for it to realize it wasnt getting anything better!
Yurnpics are amazing
Shane I don't think that you should buy one more I think you should get a whole load more!! You did your best to ignore and neglect it and for your efforts you have been rewarded with a bloom of beauty! Go right out and get another seven!!! LOL. Good growing.
WOW! this one could almost me want to grow Paphs. Beautiful!
KEEP IN MIND!!! 5 YEARS! IT SAT ON MY WINDOW SILL FOR 5 YEARS...my boyfriend thought it was half dead grass and didnt understand why i had it in the window (he told me this after it flowered)... paphs still scare me
Beautiful spicerianum. Worth the 5 year wait. Great shots - from a camera phone? Better than some of my DSLR pictures with a macro lens!
