That is really a lovely orchid...such rich colors!
It is of course a species, not a hybrid ; and don't blame the RHS -it is not them - its the lads at Kew ( Royal Botanic Garden - a UK government organisation which has been running for a few hundred years - does a lot of scientific work, and as an orchid enthusiast I appreciate the work they are doing in DNA analysis which lays bare the real relationship between different orchids, even though I do a lot of grumbling about name changes.
But as a UK taxpayer I do wonder why they are doing this with orchids which are of zero economic importance in UK ! DNA analysis and comparison sounds as though it needs a lot of expensive kit .

I have attached another picture as two blooms are now open and the third is trying. It is very hard to get a good picture as the blooms are pointing in different directions. When I bought the Encyclia from a nursery the tag only said Encyclia Phoenicea. Thanks for all the comments. So is it then a Enc. cordigera not Phoenicea?
thanks, I appreciate the info.
I just had a heart attack, then i died and went to heaven!
BEAUTIFUL!
You are so funny
