    LECA= lightweight expanded clay aggregate. Sold under brand names Hydroton, Aliflor, etc.

    What is a good source to lookup the official abbreviations for hybrids? Specifically I'm trying to figure out what a Rk. Regal Red Paradise is and what kind of TLC it needs before I kill mine.

    ls = leaf span; The span of two adjacent leaves. (often seen on vendors sites carrying Paphs and Phrags)

    div=division,

    sdlg=seedling

    pseudo bulb is also abbreviated p-bulb

    dorsal - topmost petal - most often used re slipper orchids

    sphag 'n bag - individual ICU devised to save an expiring orchid by means of enclosing it in plastic with damp sphagnum moss

    weekly/weakly - term used to describe generally advised watering/fertilizing schedule for orchids

    Some others that buffaloed me at first - compot, flask, "spike" as a verb, root-bound or pot-bound, epiphyte, lithophyte, primary hybrid, cross, multi-generation, N-P-K, "balanced fertilizer', sponge-rock, "potting up".....

    Thank you, Bruce. That is exactly what I needed. Rk. is Reinikkaara, a hybrid of Aerides, Ascocentrum, Euanthe, Vanda. Learn something new every day!
