    I love this idea. I really could have used this at the beginning.

    CMV=cymbidium mosaic virus
    TMV=tobacco mosaic virus
    ORSV=odontoglossum(?) ringspot virus

    Of course, it would be preferable if we didn't need to be aware of these. And I suppose the names are subject to change at any moment considering that what we now call a cymbidium may be called an (absurdlydifficulttopronouncewhoosywhatsy) tomorrow!

    Excellant Jason! I knew there had to be others I had missed. I'll have to email BD and see if he can add them in as I no longer have editing capability with that post (too much time has passed).

    Even though it isn't slang, I was recently thinking that including that the plural of genus is genera since that is so commonly mistaken.

    At this point I have ceased to care what the orchid taxonomist twits & KEW say or do. When the bozos show some intelligence and finally settle on new naming -- rather than tossing new names out left & right only to change them again shortly after -- then I will look at the new nomenclature. I'm too disgusted with the idiots at this point.

    Thanks Michael! Since many ?most? types are coiled, I think I just had "coiled" on the brain.
