Kitty,
Thank you for your pictures. I will implement your method once the phals establish some new roots.
I have a question for you, the last phal that you acquired yesterday, did you get it already potted in S/H or did you repotted yourself, if you did it yourself, what was the medium that the phal was potted in?
Thanks.
yes Johnny i repot it by myself.the mix is Hydroton clay like yours which i soak it in the bucket, ready to use any time.the black thing that i use to stake is cable ties
sorry about that,of course it was in the moss.
I had a delivery of 100 litres of Hydroton this week, looked a little dusty - i put it in buckets with good rain water, and after 24 hours the water gave a reading off the scale - which goes up to EC 4000 !. After three changes of water its now down to just over 1000 - so maybe another two changes it will be ready for use. But do beware anyone using this stuff - it can be very fiery indeed !
Nice orchid-ing, Johnny! They look very happy in semi-hydro. Please continue to keep us updated.
cheers,
BD
I agree with you Geoff,i rinse the clay till the water is clear and soak it with root hormone for 24Hours before use.
