odd spots on dendrobium anosmum

There are wierd spots all over my new dend. Anosmum that I just got through the mail. It has these spots on a few leaves and on the cane. it is a purple ring with a dead center. Any Ideas?

that looks like either a fungul disease (cut the leaf off and dust the wound with sulphur powder), or like something has ha a chew-im still going to go with the fungal disease. Just remember to increase air flow.

I was thinking that until I got into the Cymbidium mosaic virus section of online research.... That seems to be where I am leaning. Viral. Because it is also on the cane.

ok then, what you can do is send a sample away to get tested, apparently it isnt cheap, but worth it incase it doesnt have the virus and you end up disposing of an otherwise healthy plant, or you end up keeping it with your others and having the virus spread.

Find a lab around the place, and keep it isolated from your other orchids. Thats all i can really advise, apart from throwing it out and sourcing another one.

FYI, anomosum leaves typically start to show spots and stuff this time of the year (in N. hemisphere). They are preparing to drop the leaves and will bloom from the leaves drop off. You should start to cut the water down and eventually - by the end of Nov. - stop watering, that's if you're in the N. hemisphere.

It doesn't look a virus to me.

I have a number of anosmum, different varieties. None of them develop these spots as dormancy approaches. The leaves just turn yellow and drop off. This looks like a fungal infection that occurs when leaf tips get burnt. Happens quite often with phalaenopsis.

I tested and it is in fact mosaic virus...... plant was promptly trashed.
