Bruce...It is potted in chunks of charcoal, and gets watered once a week. Very high light, & warmth is what they seem to want. This one is not fragrant, but I love the hot red, so it STAYS! Thanks for the nice compliment...Betty

wow! great flowering. tons of flowers and branched stem!! i love it. i got a different one last summer, and have been growing it with my sharry baby. my stems were much shorter though on the one i have. it bloomed twice this winter sitting in a south facing window with shadecloth for a curtain. i mist it heavily every morning. since it bloomed, i bought another one and the flower stem was longer like yours. both are starting to grow new leaves now. reliable info on how to grow these has not been easy to find. there are also a ton of species, all from different carribean islands with different amounts of rain and temps. it has been rough trying to figure them out, and they are so small that they can dry out quick. i've put the firs tone in a tiny tree fern pot, the other is stuck in a 1" clay pot it came in. leaving it there for now.

Coeruleo, I found that they can easily be killed by too much water. I only water mine once a week! Betty

mine shrivel up here so quickly. but i only water in the early am, and they dry by the time i'm home from work. i've read a bunch of cautions on watering, but here in California, i think we have to water more, the air is so dry. the newer one still gets a bit wrinkly.

    Hi, Betty,
I just picked up one of these myself and was wondering about the correct culture. I noticed that you mention sparse water and lots of bright light. I hoped to find the original discussion or advice you mentioned from Michael. Any tips on where to find that discussion?
    Thanks,
    Rachel
