Browning stems on Paphiopedilum-please help :(

I have a Paphs which looks like has a fungus...
This is very frustating because it was lightining fast,yesterday the plant was fine the next morning it's wilt and brown!!!!!
Stupid disease,it was just a young growth,a baby orchid...I'm so sad

Ok,I'm trying to put myself together and listening of what I have to do next,step by step!
Please help me,I'm so frustated!

Look like fungal/bacteria infection for me I will remove the plant through away all the media and remove the infected plant from the mother, clean the affected side immediately and soak into the fungicide like Physan/ Thiram for one hour keep it dry, put under low light level for 24 to 48 hours, do inspection again if no progression of the disease than get another new media. Good luck.

I agree. In addition, keep the orchid away from your others. This might be brown rot. Good luck!

I agree with leafmite and zainal, keep away from your other orchids and use the Physan and zainal's recommendations! I lost my most favorite and oldest paph Sukh and a paph PEOY this way. I purchased a plant from an online grower and within a month my two paphs were sick. I believe this is called Brown Rot (ditto leafmite!) and in my sad experience is very aggressive. Good luck!

BTW, I've heard brown Listerine will work on this type of malady- I haven't tried it, does anyone know if that's useful or not?

When I bought the orchid from a local store it was pretty,in bloom and looked healthy.
That was in August or September...There were 2 mature plants and a tiny little baby...

At the end of November I've lost one of the mature plant in the same way (I thought I accidentally watered the stem and the leaves with fertilizer and that was the reason of browning...)
From November untill today everything seemed to be fine and the little baby grown a bit since
If only I would known it was a fungus in the first place!!!

Today I removed the affected plant and spray it with the only desinfectant I have, it's called ROSE RX 3 IN 1, this is just a pre-operation until tomorow or Monday when I'm gonna proceed the surgical intervension (de-pot, check the roots, soak in Phaysan and then re-pot in another media).

I find that my paphs are particularly susceptible to this problem. I haven't seen it occur on any other type of orchid, but my paphs have all had problems with it. I've done no surgery but have used systemics...seemed to stop the spread. However, those paphs are due for a repotting, so surgery will probably occur just to be safe.

I've been waiting a few months to notice the results...

I started this thread at the end of January and after a few days I did a little"surgical intervention"to my beautiful Paph.
1.First I removed the affected brown plant.
2.Sprayed and soaked in Daconil(the only fungicide I've found,nobody had Physan)
3.Removed the old media,desinfect the pot,let it dry then fill it with new media.
4.I removed part of the roots,which seemed to be roten.
5.After a few hours,I replanted the orchid in the new media,in sterile pot but before that I powered the roots and the stems with cinnamon and I stuck a few cinnamon sticks in the soil(hey,just in case...)
6.the media it's just big pieces of bark with a lot of air moving there.

I was very nervous because when I depot the orchid I had noticed "she"was pregnant with that tiny baby orchid so I was thinking that the baby wouldn't resist to the whole drama/trauma.
I'm so glad they look fine now and both survived to this process !
I cannot wait to bloom again,the most gorgeous blackish purple elegant flower
