Default Enc. Bractecsens brown leaf tips....

I've had this plant for a year. Every new growth takes off like mad, then the tips turn brown. It's not fertilizer burn as I'm a notorious under-fertilizer. I moved it to an area that gets less sun a few weeks ago, thinking it was getting too much light. Not a lot of time has passed since I moved it but I was wondering if any of you have encountered the same problem with this particular species...............perhaps not enough humidity?

On an upbeat note, I found a spike on my B cuculatta this morning!! It's about frikkin' time!

I don't grow bractecsens, but your plant does not look happy. Are the roots healthy? Are you overwatering? The roots may need to dry out more between waterings...sometimes a bit of stress will induce new growth. I often move my plants outside, out of the greenhouse, if they are troubled...it often helps. It's not always easy to figure out what you're doing wrong, but keep trying...

The roots are mondo healthy - growing all over the mount. Not overwatering. It dries out completely in between dunkings. I'm at a real quandry about this one.

possibly not enough humidity or maybe too much light? Are only the older Pbs loosing their leaves?

What kind of water are you using? This leaf tip burn is common with too much exposure to salts? May want to try rain or RO if you're not already using it, and hold on any fertilizer for awhile. Otherwise I would vote for a humidity problem?

Laurie, cut off the bad leaf tips and spray with some kind of disease control, like Daconil. Unless you're letting the plant get *too* dry between waterings (when that happens, each time you water you cause a rush of salts already in the plant out to the leaf tips), the problem may be fungal.
