Whilst I hoped for longer petals, talking to the grower has confirmed that this is the length that this hybrid should be. I had wanted longer petals but at least I know that it wasn't something that I did that made them shorter than maybe they should have been. Oh well, now I shall have to get another load of long petaled phrags.

Beautiful, another beautiful example of responsiveness to stimuli! I know so little about orchids, never ever thought that a sense of contact would stop the growth of the flower. Although, the most famous is the Mimosoideae family, responding to touch the feathered foliage closes like joining hands.

I think that the plant kingdom is a lot more knowledgeable and intelligent than we could ever begin to image.
