    Default Buds falling off

One of my phalenopsis has grown spikes on a regular basis over the last year or so but on the last three occasions the buds that form fall off before opening up.

After reading about the problem on here I thought I found a solution. The plant was in my greenhouse on a high shelf where it got the maximum sun available. This was the condition for the two previous bud losses

In the spring, based on what I read here, I moved the plant outdoors to an area with the best shade and it put out a spike a month or two ago. When the buds appeared about ready to open I brought it indoors, again keeping it in an area with less light than it got in the greenhouse.

Those buds fell off several nights ago. Healthy looking buds they were.

What is going wrong here? The plant is in s/h and the leaves look very good. I fertilize weekly.

    That is strange !
All my Phals are in s/h & i,ve moved them from growroom to my living room & moved them to other houses without to much bud drop.
I wonder if the bud drop are for 2 reasons.
Moving them from outside to inside could have caused the bud drop due to lower humidity. Why you got bud drop in the g/h

I think it might be from the move outdoors to indoors ? is there a chance it picked up passengers ( bugs ) like aphids ,or scale on the spike will do it too . These are just guesses . Sorry about the blast Gin

Usually, when buds blast they turn yellow first then fall off. You said they were healthy looking buds when they fell off? Sounds like something chewed on them. Of course I could be wrong.

The buds hadn't turned color when they fell, and I've seen no bugs anywhere on or around the plant.

Perhaps I should have left it outdoors but I thought I read that too much light can cause them to drop.

I guess it's a plant that likes to spike and bud but never show!

I try not to move plants until the buds open. I've heard that changing their location can cause bud drop. I had the same thing happen to my dalmation phal. last year it grew a side spike and when I moved it all the buds turned the red color of some parts of the flower and dropped right off. They looked healthy. So until they open I don't move em anymore.

Ah, Ha! We may have a winner.

I moved them with a few reservations but I was about to go out of town for the week and figured they'd open while I was gone. I didn't want the flowers subjected to the frequent late afternoon thunderstorms. Turns out the buds were still closed and healthy looking when I got back, and then, Dropsy!
