Don't count on the leaf surviving, but don't write off the plant. Just make sure you keep the plant healthy. I've heard of people sprinkling cinnamon on cuts in plants to ward off fungal infections. Let us know how it does!

Ok so ever since we got the phal I have been treated it as my own child. Trying to protect it from everything but that's impossible as I live with two kids and two cats who just love to eat plants and I the other day I found it knocked over and the leaf snapped at the base it's still attached but barely and if it makes a difference it's the top leaf so what should I do

Remove the damaged leaf and seal the cut. Take care of the plant and it will eventually grow new leaves.
cheers,

Like Bruce said, just remove the broken segment of the leaf. Spray it with some antifungal (you can buy all kinds from just about any store for plants) and cover the cut with cinnamon to seal it up. It's worked every single time for me. The plant will move on, and new leaves will grow out and cover the ugly one eventually. I've actually only used cinnamon to seal a cut leaves several times without even bothering with an antifungal and it's always worked out, but just to be on the safe side I would spray antifungal on it to make sure there is no chance of infection.
