Awww man I came in this morning after a weekend away from my plants, to find the bud on my bulb. all floppy and yellow I fear all is lost for this flower. Guess I'll have to wait till it buds again! I blame the facilities guys who took the lightbulb out of my lamp because it was 3 watts too high for the regulations here (apparently) :/

Oh how sad! I think my baby spike blasted too. I had a bright white growth on my bulbo and then it went dark brown and now it has almost melted back into the sphag. I can't even see it anymore so I guess it blasted. I hope I get another spike soon.

Bummer Susie I hate the facilities guys here, they're all jerks and honestly don't know what they're doing most of the time
Best of luck to you getting a new spike! Hopefully one of us will get one to last haha

I only have myself and the sun -or lack of- to blame. I am hopeful of a bloom soon though; the law of averages if nothing else helps me to believe this

oh sorry to hear about the bud....i recently had the same problem with a cymbidium spike. I lost 6 buds on it. Question, did your humidity change?, evaporation rate change?, or water regimen changed?, during the growth of the bud?? Ive had light effect buds before but not to the point of killing them with such a small change as you have stated. Just curious as to some possibilities of reasoning. I scratch my head and wonder why myself.. :P

I suppose it's possible that the humidity was lower over the weekend because I can't run the humidifier...I maybe should have watered it really good before leaving on Friday? I'm not sure but I'm really inclined to say it was the light. Then again, this is the first bulbo I've ever had, so I could be way off in that assumption.

hmmm interesting stuff.....in my situation i think i gave to much water when the buds were developing. My humidity is usually consistent...good to know tho
