I have angel fish, corys and a cat that likes to nibble on young orchid leaves. Fortunately, orchids are cat-safe and once the leaves are older she has no interest in them. I would love to have a dog but the poor puppy won't be able to stand my working hours. The cat sleeps all day and goes bananas at night so it works out for both of us.

I moved into cat region and the problem is so outta control that mothers actually leave many of the babies behind to die. Found a few and bottle raised them. Now I have two teenagers and two adults. Didn't intend to become a cat lady (at least not so young in life) but here I am with four cats and have barely broke 30 yrs. old.

Daethan that is so funny. I have a cat I named Loki after the Norwegian god of mischief. The first week I got him he broke everything including orchids and my plastic screenroom windows. To date the same window has been broken out 3 times and my orchids still aren't safe. But what can I say I love him.

I have a Yorkshire Terrier (14 months old) and two cats (7 months old). My dog has never broken any plant, neither orchid or any other garden plant. she's very obedient. Both cats on the other hand only think of playing and they don't look where they're running, son they've kicked down more than one orchid pot. Can't be angry with them anyhow. I chose to have them, so I must live with the consequences.

i had to give up my horse and so I got a dog. Then I got into rescue and adopted two more. I've had cats and also babysat a African Grey parrot.

We have 9 cats. I think if I opened my door too many times it would turn into 10!

I've got two lynx (aka snow tiger) siamese cats who are verrrryyy helpful with my orchid work. One is an older male (around 10 yrs) and the other is a younger female (around 2 yrs). My male actually has to check over my orchids by thoroughly sniffing them. It's like he is kindof trying to figure out why I give them so much attention or mimicing me like he is doing something important with them. My female, on the other hand is the one that is behind the Orchids and Cats - A Tricky Mix post (http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...ricky-mix.html).

In the past I've had lots of different cats (usually only one or two at a time), dogs (English setters, American Eskimos), a cockatiel, lovebirds, various freshwater fish and other aquatic type animals . . . . . . .

It is, and has been in the past with a variety of animals. I think I mentioned before that this is my first real attempt at growing plants as I've been more of an animal person. I can't imagine taking care of 9 cats - are they indoor/outdoor or strictly indoor? I'm sure it'd be easy for me to add to my brood, except for restrictions in the area I'm living.

There are 2 that are free to come and go as they please. I won't go to bed until they are in for the night when the temp is slated to go below 20. The other 7 are pretty much inside but we are working on training them to be able to go out and stay within our back yard. We monitor them VERY closely when they have outings. It's nearly impossible to have a plant collection inside so I am building a greenhouse this summer. Maybe I can take 1 or 2 there for some outings .

Ive got an african love birds, and a mix breed of "chihuahua and yorkshire terrier" (2 months old) given as a gift to me last week.
