I have never managed 4 spikes on a vandaceous plant before , but this one did seem to be growing well. I keep giving it pep talks, telling it to branch and produce some sort of keiki, so that I can have two growths to produce flower spikes , which I assume is possible ( without any evidence at all) but so far no joy in that department. The four spikes are closely packed together - one on each side of the stem, below a pair of leaves, and the same above the same pair of leaves , so that although there may be 100-120 flowers here, they don't quite give full value. If plants could talk back, I expect this one would be muttering about some people never being satisfied. Ah well, there's always another year.

After all the pep talking Geoff, you should be giving it some kind of reward to make sure next year is better. I like it, very pretty.

Just the same way as all my other vandaceous plants - hanging up near the roof (best light, more heat ) and sprayed with plain rain water most days , dipped in my usual nutrient mix every couple of weeks or so. Plant is in bark and moss mix, with a lot of moss, also perlite, in fact thinking a bout it, it may well be just moss and perlite - and it's in a basket.

Do you grow all of your vandaceous in media? This one looks kind of terete, did that play a role in your decision to grow it in media?
