My first Renanthera to bloom for me and i'm loving all the red flowers. The second plant is the Ascofinitia Cherry Blossom mounted that a friend gave to me. This is my favorite time of year with vandas. They love the heat and humidity here in Florida.
wow, the ren red feathers looks so tall. how quickly does that grow??
i like how u put that Renanthera in a vanda basket lol
I bought this one about five or six months ago. All the plants at the nursery where I bought mine had already bloomed and I was beginning to think I bought a "bull" or non-bloomer. I have to say, this one grows extremely slow. It has to have high temperatures, a ton of sunlight and a ton of water to grow well. Once I began a regular spraying regimen of anti-fungal and fertilizer it began to grow a little better...but it still is the snails pace grower of vanda's that I've seen so far. Of course though, vanda types are notorious for slow growing. And it is very sensitive to cold from what i've been told. Mine came full sized, so I don't know how long it took for it to get this large, but since i've had it only one new leaf has been put out.
i grow them on posts in full sun water twice daily and dey really hardy..only one leaf huh hmmm wonder if its just that hybrid cuz they seem to grow as fast as Arachnis

cheers,
BD
Both orchids are beautiful. Glad to see an old favourite, Ren Red Feathers - had one years ago. Renantheras are very slow growing but more than make up for it by the gorgeous red blooms. Lovely little Ascofinitia!
Wow, I love both of these. Red feathers what an apt name !!
Beautiful! I agree, this is a great time of year for vandas. Vandas provide most of the color to my growing area through the summer.
