Thanks Angela for pointing me to Beautiful Barbados by The Merrymen. Watched it on Youtube and listened to a few more old time calypso. Can't help but notice the great similarities between our 2 countries - the sun, sea and sand; the plants; the colour and exuberance of your carnivals (here we call them pesta from the Portuguese/Spanish fiesta); the colonial architecture (museum) and a shared history under the Commonwealth. I notice that 3 meetings of the Commonwealth Heads of States were held in the West Indies - Jamaica 1975, Bahamas 1985 and Trinidad and Tobago 2009. We held the Commonwealth Heads of States meeting in Kuala Lumpur in 1989 and the retreat for the head of states in Langkawi, our own Island in the Sun.
