I discovered today that two of the flowers that recently opened are different than the rest. It is so weird. I've never seen anything like that before. They look peloric to me. Any ideas what might have caused it?
The odd one certainly looks Peloric, but quite pretty.
Do you happen to have the name of the Hybrid Phal. and the name of the cross? If we knew that, then we might be able to see from where the colouration came (?)
Do not worry Aneta, this is a case of transient pelorism, read my article on Orchid flower ABCs in the article section and you will understand this phenomenon much better. Such things can happen due to environmental changes, stress or simply imbalance of certain hormones. If you have been spraying your orchids with some fertilizers with growth regulators it can happen.
At a local dealer last year I saw one Phal. that was all normal flowers on one spike and all peloric on the other spike.
