It's really time for me to quit, since everything about hybrid Catts with murky backgrounds is annoying me. This one apparently has C. (Gu.) aurantiaca in its parentage - a species that seems determined to haunt me. I don't know the rest of the cross BECAUSE I don't have my OWiz here - OR my books.
This has also been a nearly impossible color to record. It's a brushed-silk-textured maroon/purple/red with yellow/orange stained inside the lip. How's that for a description? I'm sick of looking at it, so of course it has 4 more sheaths. I think the photos vaguely resemble the color of the plant. I can't tell anymore because I must have taken 250 shots of it - not counting the 275 I took of my other orchids today. And if this is my biggest problem today, I'm probably not paying enough attention to the rest of my life...
Time for bed...

This one has been on my wishlist for a while - the color is stunning!
I had one one that was a Sunbulb baggie. It never bloomed right for me and I believe I trashed it. Wish mine looked like yours!
Very pretty. It's really difficult to get this colour right. Might have to play around with White Balance, Levels, Curves - even then......
I know, Yew - I kept getting a much brighter red than this actually is, but I kept changing light sources and various metering on the camera, and actually got a pretty close rendition - not easy, but I looked at the plant again this morning and the photos are even closer than I thought.
Interesting color. If you get really desperate, you can dig out a film camera. (I know, I know ... "What on earth is THAT?!" heh) Though digitals have come a long way, when it comes to correct color capture film seems to do so much better much of the time.
This is what I love !!
Stunning, gorgeous, beautiful ... even if the color of your photo isn't true - martha
Glorious! What a beauty - and great photos.
