    Post Identification help

I love orchids and have had a great deal of luck buying them from grocery stores/garden centers when they are on their last leg(aka marked waaaay down or I couldn't afford them) then nursing them back to health. One problem with that is they never have any sort of labeling which is pretty annoying. I bought this one ---- Vendor information removed - see FAQs on Posting ---- in pretty poor shape, but I managed to get it to rebloom which was pretty thrilling. I'd really love to put a name to it if anyone is able, but with so many out there I know identification can be pretty difficult.

It's a hybrid Phalaenopsis. Unfortunately, even if someone has a named plant that looks exactly like it to the naked eye, you can never really be sure without a tag. There are just so many Phal. hybrids out there, many of them never even registered/named at all. Someone may have the same clone and can name it for you, but as I said there's no way to be sure without a record of some kind.

I assumed as much...I guess I really can't complain since it WAS so affordable. If not knowing the name is the trade off for being able to buy them I guess I'll just have to not know

Welcome from Ontario, Canada Candice! As Robb said, you'll never be able to positively ID it but the flowers are really nice so enjoy.

    Welcome from Florida!

If you are able to revive a very poor shape orchid then what you are doing is correct. I would also add my 2 cents to the name, not going to happen for the reasons already provided! Give it a name that you like and if you ever post just make sure you mention that you came up with the name and it is not the correct name for this particular orchid. Personally I am more interested in the beauty of the plant and bloom then knowing what the name is, hybrid or species!
