Angela, you have shown us that you have excellent conditions for growing Vanda orchids as your anual root growth is larger than most of us has in a lifetime ;-)
You need to give the plant enough water and it will respond as your other plants by sending out alot of root. It may need daily soaking before more roots have grown out to give te plant time to suck up enough water.
In Sweden, alot of people grow Vanda orchids barerooted in very dry appartments. The trick is to soak the plants in water for 15-25 minuts every second or third day.
hi Bessie seems the best alternative one a week to imerse totaly in a 20 ltre bucket of water with diluted epsom salts or similar best i warmer months only caution may need if winter period to cold try only in mornings only i have left some of mine in for 2 hrs doing fine maybe if your single root is very long cut to half length may encourage new shoots to grow ? best wishes Richard
