    Default Moss Roses

Look like miniature roses, hence the name. They flower everyday, even though individual blooms last only one day. These plants, also known as portulacas, are very tough, enduring droughts, scorching sunshine, and seem rarely bothered with pests. Come in many different colors (only yellow and pink are pictured here, though).

Very pretty. I've always known this plant as Vietnam Rose and only came to know them as Moss Rose or Portulaca when I started reading books about plants few years ago.

My mom grew this stuff for a long time. It would break off and start growing where it landed. She simply called it "Moss". Thanks for the name. I don't see much of it around anymore.

    Cheers!

I've always loved this stuff. My mom planted it one year when I was little, and ever since then it comes back on its own every year growing out of the cracks all over the brick patio. It does so well there she has to 'weed' it out just to be able to walk on the patio!

It's quite popular out in Calif. because it survives poor soil and low watering. I had never heard it called anything but portulaca..

    Gin-
It re-seeds itself as an annual on my mom's patio which is in Iowa...colder than where you're at in Missouri.

I had planted some Moss Rose from an old seed packet I had a couple months ago in a random flower bed around my apartment. Poor things have been struggling all summer but I noticed a flower open today! A nice pretty pink color like the one in the picture. These little plants are great! So cute.
