Question Paph yellow leaf - is this an old leaf?

    Hello everyone!

This is my only paph, I suppose it is a tonsum variety. Got it in bloom about a month ago. This just happened on sunday. I panicked and took it out from its original pot/-ting mixture (it was an original one, orchid bark mix with lots of bits of sponge) and a lot of the roots were hollow.

So I gave him a haircut, but I do wonder if there is something else that I should do, how often should I water him, if I should spray with water as I do with all the others every morning or should I move him with the phrags by the mistmaker.

I should mention that it had two tiny growths when I got him and they still grow nicely thow the roots didn't look that good. I have no experience with paphs, help would be appreciated

    Thank you in advance!

    Laura

Paphs. like to be moist but they do not need as much water a your phrags -that will encourage root rot. When you water make sure that they are fairly dry before you water again. Give them a weak solution of balanced fert weekly. The yellowing leaf is normal, the older leaves always go yellow when they are of no more use to the plant. They like to be fairly warm -room temperature, and they need good humidity, spraying once twice a day will be fine. As your roots were bad, I would just spray the medium when it appears to be dry until the new roots are long enough to manage being soaked. Good luck with it. Paphs are extremely addictive and before you know it you will have ten or more!

Thank you! Thought it must be old but I wasn't sure. Sounds like the only thing that I should do would be to move him by the phrags where it's a bit warmer and the humidity is a tad higher (the cat and the phrags seem to approve of my ultrasonic gadget, so it must be allrightish )
    Have a great sunday!
