Nice big plant, roots are ok?

On the first picture I see on the right top of the photo something purple/blue. What's that?

Roots are fine and quite thick and long Maurice. The purple/blue bloom you see is from my Vanda Patchera's Delight (Deep Blue). Those flowers are just about 'shot'. Thank you both for your comments. AL

Ahhh...gorgeous!! I am currently hankering after the Sanderiana var Alba... I love the green and white...but your color combination is STUNNING! What a fantastic cross of the Sanderiana! Speaking of which, I've read that the Sanderiana has been reclassified as a Euanthe. Anyone know anything about that?

Anyway, gorgeous addition to your collection, Al! This is one to add to my wish list! Congrats!

The reclassification was done more than 40 years ago if I remember correctly, and sanderiana was/is the sole representative in this genus and Euanthe is generally ignored by both breeders and hobbyists. Imagine the confusion that will ensue in the whole vandaceous section if everyone were to use Euanthe and Vandanthe..... Incidentally that is not the only controversy concerning this particular orchid - there was also one where there were lots of argument on whether it should be sanderiana or sanderana. The 'i' must have won. ( or sanity prevailed ).

YIKES!!! I only mentioned it because I've been searching for a nursery selling the Sanderiana var Alba (I can't find one anywhere)...and I kept getting photo results with captions that read Vanda (Euanthe) Sanderiana var. Alba. I was a tad confused. So I did a little digging and saw that it had been reclassified as Euanthe. I didn't realize that had happened 40 years ago, and that for all intents and purposes, everyone just ignored it.

I'm trying to keep up with all the name changes...I just reluctantly changed all my Doritis Pulcherrima tags to read Phal Pulcherrima, and my Dtps tags to plain "Phal." I sulked the entire time. I was just wondering if, when I do finally manage to acquire one of these beauties, I should label it as a Vanda or a Euanthe! Looks like I'll be OK with Vanda!

Thanks for the info! I can always count on someone here in the forum to know what's going on with orchid names.
