Many orchids are grown in baskets with very little , or no medium. They are epiphytes.

Where are you growing your orchids?

I have it in a 4 inch pot inside a clay pot with many holes in the sides of it.
It sits 2 feet from a eastern facing window.

Vanda require the highest heat, light and water with lots of air circulation of any other orchid I know.

I had a Vanda and gave it to a friend that has a green house because I can not meet the requirments growing on my windowsill.

You might want to google Vanda culture

I guess I would wonder why it has only 2 roots?

And It would be helpful if you offered a description of your growing environment.

Vanda potting mix??? Seriously? Mine would rot if I did that; mine are all in hanging baskets with no media. My only vandaceous that is the exception is an Arachnis whose rather adventurous roots found a pot where a terrestrial was growing and they grew all the way to the bottom. When I dug them out, there was no rot, surprisingly.
