    Default Maxillaria schunkeana and other "black" bloomers.

    The last day of the last year brought me a pleasant discovery: I found my Max. schunkeana blooming with two flowers. (My poor orchids were practically neglected for two months.. no wonder I had no idea the plant was going to bloom). It is a modest blooming but I am happy anyway.

    Fdk. After Dark bloomed one month ago. First blooming, waited for three years (I bought the plant in October 2009). The blooming pb is 13" tall

    never heard of this Maxillaria,that's really a dark flower, the second one is amazing, shot with the frog is great

    LOL! That frog is a hoot!

    AfterDark looks like it really enjoys being outside in your area. Very nice.

    My dark form Max variabilis is almost as dark as your schunkeana.
