Orchid artificial light experiment

Hello fellow orchid lovers!

I really miss looking at my orchids when I'm at work and unfortunately I work at a desk with no windows... I read up a little bit about keeping orchids under lamp light and decided to see if I can make it work.

I found a floor lamp at work with 3 CFLs, got myself an orchid during my lunch break, and set up a little corner. I placed a white board under the plant so light gets reflected back up. For supplemental natural light, I'm going to place the little orchid in the kitchen over the weekend so it gets some indirect sunlight there. Wish me luck!

For a low-light plant like a phal, the CFLs ought to be fine.

I love the phal. Should be called "Spot"! What is CFL please?

CFL's are compact fluorescents, the spiral type bulbs sold almost everywhere now. I use them all the time for my orchids but try to get the larger 150 watt ones.
