    My long awaited first spike! And it is truly the blackest orchid I have ever seen.

    It came to me with a very small spike. I've watched it for a couple of weeks. I was so stoked when I looked at it this morning, I just had to photo it.

    the darkest flower I have seen as well! Nice find!

    If you are into black orchids. Maxillaria schunkeana was the darkest one in my collection.

    Very deep color. I wonder if photographing against a lighter background once they are completely open will make the flowers show up better?
