Will my oncidium ever re-root?

Yup...I was in a similar situation with my Sharry Baby...I noticed one day that it was looking pretty pathetic, I uprooted it and found that there were no roots to speak of (except the brown, shrivelled onse that aren't alive). I tried sphag n' bag, I tried threatening it with a NH winter vacation (probably not as harsh as a WI one, but still, not too pleasant if you aren't warm blooded with a coat). Well, none of that really seemed to work...I got one new root, tiny little thing, looked like it was going to pull through, but then...maybe it was because I got too over zealous...I took it out, potted it, kept it moist but not wet, after three weeks or so, started watering it like normal...all the leaves turned yellow and the plant got crispy...the current situation: one tiny tiny root with a nice green end on it coming from a new, undersized growth...is there any hope? Well, I'm not banking on it, but it is still sitting under my lights just in case.
