My congratulations, you have there a good success.

Just a few days ago (last Friday), I started making my first experiences. So far, I created the growing media, and as I am typing, it is in its one-week contamination testing time. Tomorrow (Friday), I am going to finally add orchid seeds to the media.

By the way, are you interested in seeds of Jamaican orchids? Maybe we can exchange (whoever reads this).

one word of advice...dont replate too soon.wait until you can see the individual little sizeable protocorms..if you dont wait you will have to replate several times because too many protocorms will end up in a flask...you want to leave enough room for them to grow to a good size to survive out of flask and also the less you replate is the less you risk contamination...4mm-6mm is a good size according to species..i made that mistake with a remake of Trichocentrum xhaematochilum last month so i have like four "mother flasks" all over again(replates) ahahahah

Whoa, no idea this thread was going to be still somewhat active. I took a hiatus from pretty much anything online while I defended my dissertation and prepared publications but now that I have a teaching position I have a little more time. Those particular flasks have long been deflasked and sold/given out to people I know but I do have some more E. tampensis, B. nodosa and some Oncidium's I'm currently working on. I'll have to try to get some pictures posted. I have a near continual supply of green pod B. nodosa from the Horticulturalist at the University I work at. They have a huge 25+ year old B. nodosa that he lets me self whenever it comes into flower and I just promise him a flask or two of the byproduct.

King, I too have made that mistake more than once. I start to see a slow down in growth and often times jump too soon at replating. Not only does this mean I have to replate again but it's a pain to replate tiny protocorms in the glove box.

Thanks for posting Ryan. I'm going to try breeding one of these days. It just seems really involved.
