Since my last post my Aer lawrenceae has at last decided to put out 2 spikes (only 1/2 inch long at the moment). I'm really excited.

It almost always sends out two spikes, Yew Sung. I am excited for you. I felt the same with mine too. I hope to see pictures of your lawrenciae.

They do look like one. When I was a kid, my aunt always incorporated the lawrenciae in her floral arrangements. I saw them as dwarfs' or elves' shoes.

Wow! Very beautiful. I love Aerides -- the flower shape and fragrance are very unique. It's so interesting to see how they grow and bloom in their native environment and that the flowers get pollinated!

My Aerides houlletiana has bloomed and appears to be doing well, but Aerides lawrenciae is one of a few plants I've actually killed by underwatering / lack of humidity. The roots desiccated quickly and the plant never recovered.

If I may interject here. Cody don't feel to bad. All my Aerides (like three or so) died also. My Houlletiana is also doing fine. You could of watered three times a day and it would probably not been enough (I tried this). I found out later from the Florida grower that they cannot take lower humidity for even short periods without having major problems. Houlletiana seems to be the exception thankfully. AL
